“Music For x Spatial Interactions (Relational Music)”
is an inherently interactive sound piece that changes with both individual and group movement. The projected tones in this piece are standing waves that allow for easy observation of wave based phenomena. Every movement in the space ephemerally changes the sound and the audience becomes both a participant and performer to the socially affected sound in the space. While individuals have agency over their own experience, so does otherness as other participants may move through the space, composing their own perception, within the shared space. As listeners move through space, they thus alter their own perception of the piece and its course.
“Music For x Spatial Interactions (Relational Music)” has appeared in the Czang Institute of Contemporary Art’s 5th International Exhibition on New Media Art and the LincolnPoP’s Global Frequencies Festival, 2019.
